I covered regions as diverse as the far Northern Karakoram mountain region of Hunza Pakistan to the southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala plus Sri Lanka. My purpose was to witness as far as possible the lives of women and men displaying a variety of religions, castes and occupations. This applied especially in the rural areas of India.Initially I lived nearly a year in Sind Pakistan. In Karachi for some months I did social work with poor Christian sweeper groups. In India I acquainted myself with many followers of Gandhi involved in projects ranging from problems of untouchability, illicit alcohol to land distribution.I hope that my endeavours offer some insight into these complex lands.
